Booking

How far ahead should we book?

For weddings and proms, 6 to 12 months ahead is common, especially for Saturdays in spring and fall. For smaller parties a few weeks is often enough. Ask about your date any time.

How much does it cost?

Wedding receptions start at $1,200, school and church dances at $500, private parties at $600 and corporate events at $800. See services and prices for what each package includes. We send an exact quote once we know your date, location and hours.

Is there a deposit?

Yes. A 25% non-refundable deposit reserves your date, and the balance is due 7 days before the event. We take card, Zelle, Venmo or check.

What if we cancel or postpone?

If you cancel, the deposit is kept, because we turned other events away for your date. If you need to postpone, we apply what you paid to a new date within 12 months, as long as that date is open.

Will we get a written agreement?

Yes. Everything we agree on (date, times, location, package and price) is in a written agreement.

Costs

Are there other charges?

Only if you ask for them: extra time, or travel beyond our free area. Parking, tolls or paid loading at the venue are passed on at cost.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is free within 40 miles of Burbank. Beyond that, we include a travel charge in your quote.

What if the party is going great and we want more time?

We can keep going if the venue allows it. Extra time is $150 per hour, in half-hour blocks, and only with your OK.

The music

What music will you play?

It depends on your event, your crowd and what you want. Our library has over 76,000 songs, from big band to today's hits, and we keep it current. We read the room and keep people dancing. You can search our music right now.

Can we choose songs, and will you take requests?

Yes. Before the event we'll ask for your must-play and do-not-play songs and the special moments. On the night we take guest requests, but you decide whether we do. We manage requests: songs that don't fit the crowd, the age group or your do-not-play list aren't played.

What if you don't have a song we want?

With a library this size that is rare, and virtually any song can be found. Let us know ahead of time and it will be ready.

Do you play clean versions?

Always for school and church events, and for any event where you want them. Just tell us.

Will you play too loud?

No. We keep the volume low during dinner and cocktails so guests can talk, and bring it up for dancing. You decide, and we follow the venue's sound limits.

On the day

When do you arrive and set up?

We arrive 60 to 90 minutes before the event starts, so everything is set and tested before your first guest walks in.

What do you need from the venue?

A standard power outlet on its own circuit near the DJ area, a space about 8 by 6 feet, and a table if the venue has one. For outdoor events, shade and a flat surface.

Why do you want the names of our caterer, photographer and planner?

A reception doesn't run smoothly by accident. We coordinate the timeline with the other professionals before and during the event, so toasts, dinner and the first dance happen when everyone is ready.

Do you take breaks?

The music never stops. For a long event we take a short break while dinner music plays.

Do you put on a show?

We read the room. Some crowds want an elegant evening, others a party. We MC the important moments and never make it cheesy or about us.

Why a DJ instead of a live band?

A DJ plays the original versions of the songs your guests know, from every decade, without set breaks, and can change direction the moment the crowd does. A DJ is also easier to keep at the right volume, and usually costs much less than a band.
